On going back to theatre :

“I had been missing it and I was scared of it. I hadn’t been in a play in 10 years, so I was scared, but I knew it was something I had to do. I realized what a theatre creature I really am and how it’s really still in my bones. The work was relentless and it’s what I needed. The work on TV is so different, with so much waiting. In theatre, it’s emotionally extensive and you’re really testing your creativity and you ideas have to continue to come. The process is essential to the outcome, whereas the outcome in television is pre-ordained.”
