Lost Cast Member Confirms Return For Final Season

One of the cast members of ABC's Lost has confirmed that he/she will return for the final season of the television series. This is kinda tricky, as I think some people might consider this a spoiler. I've been careful to leave the person's name out of the headline, and not to include a photo of the person above (although, they are in the photo above somewhere) even though the original source does both (headline and photo). Sci-Fi spoke to Elizabeth Mitchell, who played Juliet on ABC's Lost, and was able to confirm that she will appear in the sixth season of the show, even though her character appeared to have died in a nuclear explosion at the end of season five.

“It did seem that I kaboomed myself with the bomb,” Mitchell said. “I like that word, anyway. I don't think it's going to be that way. I am going to be traveling to Hawaii more than once, so we'll see how that plays out, because my [V] producers have said it's all right, so that's good.”

It isn't a HUGE surprise, as Lindelof and Cuse eluded at Comic-Con this year that we probably haven't seen the last of the character (but you never know with the Lindelof's cryptic replies). After watching the panel, which you can read about here, it seems like this season of Lost will feature a new framing device - flashes back and fourth between two alternative realities.

If Juliet did indeed blow up “the hatch,” then the plane never crashed on the island, and the people who were on Oceanic flight 815 are alive and “well” living in the outside world, likely never to have met. But those who survived the explosion (probably not Juliet), are also stranded on the island, in the original reality timeline. So basically, Juliet's character never probably never got recruited to come to the island, and will make a few appearances in the alternative world in this new season. Heroes Season 4 Volume 5 Redemption : First Preview in Video

With season four of Heroes set to premiere Sept. 21, it seems only fitting that NBC dazzle us with a taste of the new volume, Redemption, but will this truly be the redeeming season for Heroes?

Heroes is already confusing the heck out of us in this trailer alone. Sylar Nathan Sylar as Nathan is rediscovering his powers, while the camera jumps between shots of Zachary Quinto and Adrian Pasdar. While we're all excited that Zachary is here to stay, we're getting dizzy trying to figure out what's going on.

More on what the promo above means, plus, a few things for you to ponder before the Heroes premiere, including the most important question of all...

Who's in the grave?!

Now, the finer points of this sizzle reel:

* Claire (Hayden Panettiere) is experimenting in college, which has nothing to do with her superpowers as much as it does with her new roommate, played by Californication's Madeline Zima.

* Prison Break's Robert Knepper is trying to round up everybody with powers, which seems as though it will take a while, since Knepper was just upped to series regular this season.

* Ali Larter is back, and if she didn't mean business before, she certainly does now.

* Plus some blink-and-you'll-miss-'em scenes: Ando's (James Kyson Lee) kissing Hiro's sister, Noah (Jack Coleman) is injured at the foot of some stairs and Noah is drowning in a car-wow, they really don't like Noah, huh?

* Sylar is holding little baby Matt Parkman hostage until he gets his body back. This was that very Fight Club-esque way we teased regarding Quinto staying on the show.

Grey's Anatomy : Seattle Grace Doctors Attend Funeral

When Grey's Anatomy returns for its sixth season, viewers will witness a funeral for one of the doctors of Seattle Grace. It's actually the worst kept secret in TV these days because if you've been following the entire buzz surrounding series creator Shonda Rhimes and Grey's cast member T.R. Knight, then you're already aware that it's for George O'Malley.

In last season's cliffhanger ending, George was hit by a bus and his heart rate eventually flat-lined, leaving his fate unknown. His portrayer, Knight, however, has already been released from his contract on the show. He has also revealed why he really quit the ABC medical drama, citing creative differences over his character's direction with executive producer Rhimes.

This week, the cast of Grey's Anatomy was seen back to work in Los Angeles where they were filming a funeral scene. Spotted on the set were Katherine Heigl, who plays Izzie Stevens, and a very pregnant Ellen Pompeo, who plays Meredith Grey. The men were also back to work: Justin Chambers, who portrays Alex Karev, and Patrick Dempsey, who plays Derek Shepherd, also acted in the scenes to pay their respects to George.

Rhimes actually had a different season opener planned for the return of Grey's Anatomy. A flash back was supposed to take viewers to the hours during which George was missing, from when he left the hospital to when he returned later on as a disfigured John Doe.

However, Knight reportedly declined to make a brief appearance and instead of seeing George's detailed split-second decision to save that girl's life cost him his own, viewers will just have to watch Rhimes' alternative version.

Grey's Anatomy returns for its sixth season on Thursday, September 24 at 9pm 9/8c on ABC. You can check out more funeral pics in here.

Here are the spoilers concerning the Vitales we've posted in past issues of Spoilers Anonymous:

* They are an Italian family from New York.
* Nick is a handsome landscape designer.
* Dominic is an intense 19-year-old.

Here are some new spoilers I was able to get my hands on:

* Dominic's father describes him as an emotional kid who always jumps the gun. Dominic will get help in his studies. His tutor will more than likely end up being Julie. He will ask her out but she will say no because she just got out of a relationship. What makes me think it will be Julie is the fact that there are little chances that Steven Webber will join the cast as Julie's husband so my theory is that they are now divorced and it's why she decided to move back to Wisteria Lane. Dominic is 19 and Julie is in her early 20s, so it wouldn't be surprising if those two end up in a relationship sometime this season.
* The Vitale family had to move around quite a few times. Nick seems to think things will work out this time around but Angie is not so sure, especially since Nick had that feeling a few times before and it ended up in them having to move yet another time. His first impression of the Wisteria Lane residents is that they mind their own business. We know better than that, don't we? Nick firmly believes his family will finally make friends and fit right in. He is even ready to try golf if it can help the family fit in more.
* It's not clear what the Vitales' secret is at this time but they have had bad luck recently. Angie seems to be fed up of whatever they went through. Nick says that it's all over, that it's history and that no one here will ever know... I can't wait to discover what it is that they are hiding. Don't you?

This family could turn out to be a good addition to the show, especially if Julie is dragged into the mystery. I always liked Julie's character and am glad she is back. I also like the casting they did of the three characters.

Composer Bear McCreary talks Caprica

Regarding your latest release, Caprica, it sounds to me more emotive and character-centric than the Battlestar scores, which are very atmospheric, encapsulating all the action and drama of the environment.

Well, Caprica has a much smaller cast, and that cast can essentially be divided into two families - The Adamas and the Graystones. So I wrote two themes, one for each family, and they serve as the thematic thread that ties the Caprica score together. Battlestar, as you mentioned, tends to be attached to arcs, subplots, and sometimes thematic ideas. There are also themes for every single character on the show, and there are at least 50 of those alone, not that they all get used all the time. So Caprica was a very different approach.

Was it difficult at all to pull back from the expansiveness of Battlestar and hone in on this smaller story?

It was a bit of a relief, honestly. If the producers wanted Caprica to sound bigger, I might have died. The Battlestar score has reached a point where it is so unwieldy and massive, in terms of the amount of instruments in it, the style it encapsulates. It's difficult to work with this language, and Caprica was like a breath of fresh air. I got a small chamber-sized orchestra together, and I was able to fall back on just writing, technique, and ideas, and the spectacle of the score wasn't part of it.

Did you approach it more as a classic drama than as a sci-fi epic?

Well, I don't approach anything as a sci-fi epic. I look at everything from a dramatic standpoint. Battlestar is certainly no exception to that. There are more family-drama storylines happening in Caprica, and Battlestar certainly does have its share of big, sci-fi plots that are not solely character based. But I have to admit that I try to ignore them, from a musical standpoint. What can one do to write science fiction music in the first place? I write narrative music. So, in that regard, it wasn't any different than doing Battlestar. But I think the biggest difference was the ensemble, which was much more traditional, more contained, and much more classical. And the signature instruments like the ethnic drums, Middle Eastern flutes, and whatnot that are all over Battlestar, only make sporadic appearances throughout Caprica.

Something I found puzzling, given your credentials, was that in the press surrounding Caprica's development, you weren't even originally considered to do the score. I read something about the director having conversations and you were eventually suggested. What happened there?

Well, they honestly wanted a very different sound. And the director, Jeffrey Reiner, who had never previously worked on Battlestar, came in to direct Caprica, and wanted to go in a completely different direction. He didn't want to re-create Battlestar...none of us did. So, I wasn't an obvious choice, because I WAS the guy who did Battlestar. I had a meeting with Jeff, and we realized immediately that we were both on the same page about how the music should be. In fact, we had an incredible relationship artistically; he and I really got along, so it worked out for the best. But no, I wasn't the obvious first choice. But like I said, the producers were concerned; they wanted something different, so I had to prove that I could deliver it.

What exactly is your compositional process? Do you write suites or individual miniature cues?

I generally start with a theme piece or some version of the theme that I want to use throughout the score. Then once I have that, I roll up my sleeves and attack one of the bigger scenes that require music as a means of warming up. Honestly, the shorter cues are often the hardest.

How often do you have to go back to the drawing board and do rewrites for something that doesn't work for you or the director?

In my entire career working on Battlestar and Caprica, I have only ever done one rewrite. It was in one of the very first episodes of Season 1, and I've never done one since. That's for two reasons: one, the producers and I have worked together for a really long time and we see eye-to-eye. Generally I know what they want, and they trust my instincts. And two, there's no time for rewrites. I had to write the entire score for Caprica in nine days. So I was just churning out cues as fast as humanly possible. I turned out between five to eight minutes of music for nine days straight, and on the tenth day, I was in front of the orchestra conducting it. So we definitely make revisions, tweaks - Jeff and I worked together on it very closely. But as far as going back and rewriting something from scratch; there was no time for that.

Was there a period where you and the producers had to break the director into the mythos of Battlestar?

Sort of, but like I said, he and I got along pretty much right away, so there weren't any issues that way. The first set of cues I sent him were the tracks on the album “Grieving” (which was the first piece I wrote) and Jeff loved it. In fact, he even came to the orchestra session just to sit there and enjoy it. He really didn't have anything to say; he heard everything and liked it all. It was a really great relationship. He and I are going to work on some other projects together in the near future.

Supernatural Season 5 Spoilers

Supernatural:

Remember Meg, the evil demon who has it in for the Winchester boys? We haven't seen her since season two, but actor Rachel Miner says she'll be back in the new season. (I thought she died, for some reason. Didn't she get stabbed with the demon-killing knife, or shot with the colt?) Says producer Eric Kripke:

I've been wondering, what Meg's doing out there. I've been continually asking the writers, ‘Where's Meg?" She's would make a really formidable adversary. I got impatient and ended up writing her into my own script.

She may only appear in one episode.

Brian Austin Green in Smallville Season 9

It's official - the new season of Smallville can't get here soon enough.

Brian Austin Green has been cast on Smallville as the DC Comics villain Metallo, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively.

That's right - the Terminator alum is now playing a cyborg himself. That is a pretty freakin' super bit of casting, right?

Green will appear as the kryptonite-powered villain (alter ego "Daily Planet" journo John Corben) in at least the first two episodes of Season 9, which takes flight Friday, Sept. 25.

Interestingly, Smallville fans were waiting for news on big, bad Zod, given the events of the Season 8 finale, but that role still has yet to be cast. (I suppose you could say the show "zigged" instead of Zod.)

Green's Smallville gig comes on the heels of the Beverly Hills 90210 alum passing on the role of One Tree Hill sports agent Clayton. (And isn't this role so, so much cooler?!) Prior to that, Green had been attached to the CW pilot Body Politic, but that series didn't get picked up for fall.

This past TV season, Green costarred on Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, which was canceled after two seasons.

Unaired Prison Break Finale a Hit On BitTorrent

Two weeks ago, Prison Break season 4 ended in the US, and many fans were left in the dark about what happened to Scofield. Even though episode 23 and 24 of Prison Break never aired on US television they are available on BitTorrent, and that didn't go unnoticed to the millions of of dedicated followers of the show.

24Every week we take a look at the most downloaded TV-Shows on BitTorrent. This off-season week is an unusual one, as the final two episodes of Prison Break that never aired on US television were downloaded by nearly 2 million people.

Unlike the regular episodes these last two were never aired by Fox on US television, this also shows in the download statistics. Up to 25 percent of the downloads came from the US compared to little over 5 percent for the other episodes that did air on television.

Episode 23 and 24 of the fourth Prison Break season are available on BitTorrent because some non-US networks did decide to air them. ‘Prison Break: The Final Break', as the final two episodes are called, is scheduled for a (ca-ching) DVD release in the US on July 21.
